Author: Kalgoorlie Speedway
Following on from the hugely successful completion of our 2006/2007 racing season, the Committee of Boulder Speedway Association are pleased to announce the dates for racing at Kalgoorlie International Speedway in the up coming 2007/2008 season.
This season marks the 16th year of racing at our venue on the outskirts of Kalgoorlie on the Goldfields (Menzies) Highway and is again shaping up to be a stacked season of Speedway seen in Kalgoorlie Boulder.
A local Club Meetings is pencilled in for the first meeting of 2007/2008, on the 20th of October 2007. This meeting will see all local, Kalgoorlie based divisions take to the rich red clay of Kalgoorlie International Speedway. Divisions expected to compete at this meeting include Sprintcars (360ci), ASCF based divisions in Junior Sedans, Street Stocks, Production Sedans and Super Sedans, as well as AMCA Nationals and the possibility of local Formula 500’s.
The 14th of November 2007 sees Round Three of World Series Sprintcars grace the Goldfields. WSS will again be welcomed back to Kalgoorlie with open arms, with huge interest already in the midweek meeting being shown in the Goldfields. The established World Series Sprintcars stars set to appear include reigning Australia 1 Brooke Tatnell driving for Bunbury based Shane Krikke, perennial Goldfields favourite and reigning WSS champion Max Dumesny, ‘The Rockstar’ Danny Reidy from the Northern Territory, David Murcott from Victoria, Northern Territory youngster James McFadden driving for Queensland star Dan Morton, former Goldfields now Mackay Queensland based, but sill ‘a local’ Allan Haynes, our own Kalgoorlie star in Scott Milling, plus a host of other Australian, International and importantly, our own West Australian hotshots.
The final meeting prior to our Christmas - New Year break will be held on the 8th of December 2007. A full release regarding this meeting will be made in the near future.
We then break until the beginning of February 2007. This allows our committee and members to enjoy the festive and holiday season, whilst also taking in some racing activities elsewhere in the state and country.
Action resumes on the 2nd of February 2008, with Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (Inc) presenting the return of Late Model Sedans to Kalgoorlie International Speedway for their second annual Fireball Derby meeting. It is expected in excess of 20 thundering Late Model Sedans will venture to Kalgoorlie for the first time in a number of years. With the National Title being held one week earlier at the Perth Motorplex, there is a possibility we may see Eastern States and International drivers who are in WA pick up this meeting on the return trip home. The Vosbergen team of Bert and Craig, Ben and Brad Ludlow, Brad Blake and a host of other Late Model stars are set to travel to Kalgoorlie.
The March long weekend (2nd and 3rd of March 2008) will again see the running of a WASCF State Title in Kalgoorlie as per last season, with the Modified Production Sedans this time chasing the elusive WA1 mantle in Kalgoorlie. Can local lad, Brendan Selleck finally shake of the hoodoo that has hovered above at major State and National Title meetings over past seasons, only time will tell.
March the 16th 2008, 1 year from Kalgoorlie International Speedway hosting it’s first Australian Title in the 360 Sprintcar Nationals, will again feature the same class, with upwards of 20 360ci Sprintcars travelling to Kalgoorlie for a large prize-money meeting.
The 30th of March 2008 will then be rounded out with the return of the Super Sedan Summer Series to Kalgoorlie. Local drivers in Robbie Bawdon, Rick Musarra and Dean Shore are all expected to headline the meeting against visitors such as Kemble Aylett, Marc Giancola and Troy Brook.
The 5th of April 2008 will then see our final meeting of the 2007/2008 season, with a combined AMCA Nationals ‘AMCA 1000/Country Tri Series’ and the season ending Open Club Championships. Visiting drivers are expected to travel to Kalgoorlie International Speedway in Sprintcars (360ci), Junior Sedans, Street Stocks, Production Sedans, Super Sedans and Formula 500’s to tackle our own local stars for Club Championship bragging rights.
We hope to see you in the rich Goldfields surrounds of Kalgoorlie Boulder this season for what appears to be a sensational season of racing at Kalgoorlie International Speedway!
